Annual Report 2021-2022
The year 2021-2022 has been a remarkable year for St. Thomas public School Muvattupuzha. A great accomplishment shouldn’t be the end of road, just the starting point for the next leap forward. We delight the beauty of the butterfly but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty. It is the changes that we all through our lives that constantly improves us. Aristotle once said “Educating the mind without educating the heart is not education at all”.
The school believes in the motto “Total Growth through Education” which promises wholesome education of children through holistic approach and promotes academic excellence, life skill education and practising good values in their day to day life. We bow in humility in expressing our profound gratitude to all who supported us in attaining glorious heights in these years.
Let me present you a brief summary of the activities and accomplishments of our school.
Flying Colours Of Success In Academics
Excellence in academics is the hall mark of a good institution. In keeping with the traditions of excellence, once again our students performed exceptionally well in the board examinations held by CBSE in March – 2022.
Like previous years, school secured 100% result in class X & XII.
49 students appeared in class X Board exam. 6 students secured above 95% with all A1. Muhammed Yamin Beck is the school topper with 97.8% marks. Other All A1 holders are Ananya K.S, Jacob Saji, Fathima Zarin, Ann Mary Chacko and Sreelakshmi Biju. Muhammed Yamin Beck and Sreelakshmi Biju secured 100 marks in Malayalam. Let me congratulate the Malayalam Department for the exemplary performance. 45 students secured distinction.
In class XII, 39 students appeared for Board Exam. Pooja Suresh who secured 98.6% marks in Commerce Stream is the school topper with all A1. In science stream, Sumariya James secured full A1 with 98.2% marks. Devaprabha S secured 96% with all A1. Pooja Suresh is the School Topper, Central Kerala Sahodaya Topper and she is the topper in Muvattupuzha Constituency. Sumariya James is the second topper in CKSC in Science Stream.
Let me congratulate all the teachers starting from Class I – XII for their dedicated and sincere hardwork. Dear teachers, we have created an identity for ourselves and created history for the last 30 years and remain as the best school in the town in terms of academics. I extend my sincere gratitude to all my beloved colleagues for their commitment and dedication and I would like to inform you that our kids are so thankful for your unconditional support.
Teachers’ Empowerment Programmes
“Teachers are also Learners”. Staying updated is the key to success in any field, especially in education. Our teachers constantly strive to stay updated by attending training programs. Every year we conduct 5 days workshop for our teachers. In connection with this, CBSE{Centre of Excellence} conducted a training for teachers in and around Ernakulam on 25th May. Dr. Lakshmi Haridas (Principal, Al-Ameen Public School, Edappally), Mrs. MaliniVenugopal (Principal, Talent Public School), Dr. Dinesh Babu (Master Trainer and City Co-ordinator of CBSE) were the resource persons in the previous year.
School Re-opening
Entirely different from the previous years, 2021-2022 academic year’s re-opening ceremony was conducted online on 2nd June 2021 and classes began on the same day. Even during the Covid pandemic, our online classes were a great success in the previous year. This year school chose Microsoft Teams as online platform.
Beginning of Class XI – Freshman’s day – was held on 10th June.
Parenting is very important in child education. Parents’ Orientation Programmes were conducted 3 times this year and Dr. Harikumar, Fr. Aby Varkey, Bro. Nandhu John and Mr. Jiju Thomas were the resource persons. Motivation Classes conducted for Classes 9 to 12 on the topic “Teenage Problem”.
Curricular and Co-curricular Activities
Life at school is a veritable roller coaster ride –full of fun, exuberance and an abundance of adventurous experiences. However nothing is more exhilarating for students to showcase their hidden talents. The St. Thomas Public School provided them ample opportunities to unleash their exceptional abilities.
It infused a healthy competitive spirit through reward based assessment.
According to the government instructions, school conducted offline classes.
All the three Venues (AV Room/ Main hall & Mini hall) were active on Tuesdays with activities like Karate, Dance, Music, Roller skating, Yoga & Art & Craft. Without fail Mass PT was conducted on every Wednesdays. Thursday club activities provided special opportunity for each class to showcase their talents without inhibitions.
Various co-curricular activities were held under different clubs to develop a child physically, morally, socially and mentally and to hone skills in co- scholastic areas. Regular club activities were held in which the students participated and displayed their caliber. Our school gives equal importance to scholastic and Co scholastic programmes. Extempore, Quiz, Talk shows, Seminars, Presentations, Projects, GAT, Spell bee, Art & craft were planned and incorporated in the school activities to accomplish our vision. “Total Growth through Education”. School Radio – Mezcolansa and News broadcasting Service were very active during lunch break. This year we gave priority to deliver short messages prepared by students to their friends on a rotation basis.
PTWA Meetings
We firmly believe that positive communication between parents and teachers goes a long way in improving the efficiency of school system. We ensured active participation of parents in teaching learning process. Dr. Snehachandran K. V. and Dr. Bobby Paul were elected as President and Vice President of our PTWA.
Apart from regular periodic communication between the teachers and parents three PTWA meetings were conducted this year. And on all occasions our PTWA members had participated actively.
Festivals And Celebrations
To promote harmony among all communities, special programmes were organized in the school during Onam, Diwali and Bakrid festival days.
Teachers day was observed on September 5. All the celebrations were conducted online.
Conclusion
Towards the end, I thank the supportive management whose continuous support to our ideology of education has enabled the students to come this far. I owe a debt of gratitude to our Manager Fr. John Puthooran, Administrator Mrs. SunammaJohn, MrsAchamma Mathew for their unconditional support and all my predecessors for the legacy they have passed on to me. Teachers and the entire the staff members also deserve applause for their tireless effort in implementing the route map of importing quality education here. I also extend my heartfelt thanks to the parents who have shown unflinching faith by giving us the profound opportunity to transform their children into truly useful citizens of the future world. In the voyage of the discovery of excellence in the field of education our endeavour of keeping the values – Love, peace, positivity and right conduct alive in our thought, word and action continues……….
